Summer Groups 2022

GET A GRIP! HANDWRITING WORKSHOP Session 1 : (8 sessions)                         $325

This workshop is designed to focus on increasing children’s motor skills, social skills, and beginning writing skills. The workshop is based on the programs “Size Matters” and “Handwriting Without Tears”.  Your child will learn appropriate handwriting techniques from the expertise of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Each session includes: gross motor development with music and movement, fine motor strengthening with use of games, arts and crafts, and multi-sensory writing techniques to encourage proper grip and correct letter formation.  Pre-assessment screening is required for any new clients. Children must be able to function in a small group setting and be potty trained. Minimum group size is two with a maximum of five. Children who could benefit from this workshop include:

  • Children with decreased handwriting skills (forming shapes/letters; using correct size, shape, orientation of letters)
  • Children with delayed fine motor skills, such as cutting or coloring
  • Children with an awkward pencil or scissor grip

SOCIAL DETECTIVE : (4 sessions)                                                                              $175

These groups are designed for school age children to increase their social communication skills. The group will focus on basic social skills including the awareness of others, turn-taking, problem solving, and whole body listening skills; coupled with proper language and most importantly giving each child an increased desire for communicating with others. Children must be able to function in a small group setting. Campers are welcome to bring a snack.   Min. group size is 2, max. of five. Pre-assessment screening is required for any new clients. Children must be able to function in a small group setting and be potty trained.

WEE SOCIAL EXPLORERS:   Early Social Skills Group:(4 sessions)                     $175

Our Wee Social Explorers will learn the important tools to promote participation in a group setting. Using the We Thinkers Curriculum, children will listen to stories that teach about thoughts and feelings, thinking with your eyes, following a group plan, and whole body listening. Sessions will use a multi-sensory play experience to practice, learn, and experience social thinking skills. Minimum group size is two with a maximum of five. Pre-assessment screening is required for any new clients. Children must be able to function in a small group setting and be potty trained.

  • Wednesdays
  •  SESSION 1: June 8,15,22,29 (4 weeks)
  •  SESSION 2: July 13,20,27, Aug. 3  (4 weeks)
  • 1:00 PM-1:50 PM
  • Ages: 4 yrs-6 yrs

PLAYING WITH A PURPOSE (4 sessions)                                                                     $135

Come and Play with us! Children learn through Play! Let your little ones play with us to help develop and improve their language, social skills, fine & gross motor skills they will need for school readiness. These groups will target fun while working on developmental skills through free & structured play activities, sensory activities, and fine and gross motor activities. These groups will also promote the skills of listening, following directions, and turn-taking through games, movements, songs, crafts and stories. Pre-assessment screening is required for any new clients. Group size: minimum of 2, maximum of 4.

  • Ages: 3 1/2 yrs-5 yrs
  • Mondays : June 6th,13th,20,27th
  •  45 minute sessions
  • 11:00-11:45 PM

FITNESS WITH FRIENDS (5 sessions)                                                                           $135

Fitness with Friends is a social and recreational program for children. This group will be led by Ms. Abbie, who is both a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and an ACSM certified personal fitness trainer. This group provides a supportive, structured, and nurturing environment to develop new skills while making friends. Children will have the opportunity to participate in fun fitness activities that incorporate games, dance, yoga, sports themes, and obstacle courses. This group will use a multi-sensory play experience to practice, learn, and engage in movement and social skills. Children will be able to target turn taking, bi-lateral coordination skills, core strengthening, balance and other gross motor skills all while having fun socially with other friends. The initial group will consist of 5 sessions (once per week) that are 45 minutes each. Minimum group size of 3, maximum of 5. Please reach out to us with any questions you have about the group or about which group is most appropriate for your child. The age groups are general guidelines but changes from one group to another can be discussed based on ability. Pre-assessment screening is required for any new clients. Children must be able to function in a small group setting and be potty trained.
